Brand
new in 2005, the Joker is the world’s thinnest dynamic single rope, and
the only lead rope UIAA rated as a single, a double, and a twin!
Ultra light and thin, yet offering high
performance, the Joker is designed for high-end climbers seeking
lightness and easy running, and by more traditional climbers seeking a
multi-purpose rope for ridge routes, classic face routes, mixed ice and
snow, or snow alone.
Strong Points: multi-use, ultralight,
ultra smooth. Can be used as a single rope, but doubled up and used as a
half-rope and/or twin rope when things get tough or a route wanders.

When used as a double/half rope: UIAA
falls = 20, Impact Force = 6 kN. When used as a twin rope: UIAA falls =
>25, Impact Force = 9.5 kN. Note: this rope, when used as a
single, may not be grippable by all hands, and in all belay devices, and
requires expert holding and controlling. Standard belay devices,
designed for higher diameter ropes, will give reduced braking, and some
self-locking/auto-locking devices may simply not work.
"In hand, the . . .Joker . . is wispy
yet firm. Though a single rope, it behalves like a double: It rappels
fast and won't lock up a belay device as abruptly as a fatter rope."
