SuperDry - Wet ropes are more difficult to handle. If they freeze their dynamic performance is drastically reduced. Impregnated ropes are an additional safety factor for alpinists, especially on ice, mixed ground and in winter. Whereas in conventional dry ropes it is usually only the sheath fibres that are dry-treated, Mammut’s SUPERDRY ropes are dry-treated throughout the core and sheath, i.e. the whole rope is impregnated. The SUPERDRY treatment ensures a more effective and durable impregnation of the rope, while improving handling, resistance to friction and dirt, and durability.

Coating Finish - With Mammut’s exclusive Coating Finish process, the individual rope strands in the core are Teflon coated in order to minimize chafing and improve friction co-efficiency.  Loading, e.g. through a fall, is uniformly distributed through each individual filament, thereby optimizing performance. (filament = the finest element of a rope).  In this way, substantially lighter ropes with the same number of falls, or ropes which can hold a substantially higher load and have the same weight, can be made. In addition to better performance in standard testing, the Coating Finish gives Mammut ropes further advantages: They have reduced rope drag, absorb less dirt and moisture, are especially easy to handle and maintain their level of performance for longer.

TrioSafe - Marking of the midpoint and ends of the rope is a big help during rappelling, when pulling up the rope, and for estimating the length of rope remaining. All Mammut TRIOSAFE marked ropes have a friction-proof, colored, midpoint dye mark, and similar dye marks near both ends of the rope. The coloring agent (black) is carefully chosen to avoid impairing the sheath or core of the rope. Thus, the ends and middle of TRIOSAFE ropes are easy to find.

DuoDess - A permanent marking of the midpoint of the rope is a big help during rappelling, when pulling up the rope, and for estimating the length of rope remaining. Sticky tape markers may come away during use, or get in the way when handling the rope. If the sticky tape has been lost, alternative marking with a felt pen might, under certain circumstances cause chemical damage to the rope fibres. In Mammut’S patented DUODESS sheath design there is a clearly noticeable change in weave pattern of the sheath at the midpoint. The two halves of the rope are thus always easily distinguishable.

TrioDess - A permanent marking of the midpoint of the rope is a big help during abseiling, when pulling up the rope, and for estimating the length of rope remaining. As with it’s DuoDess ropes, Mammut’s TRIODESS ropes have an unmistakable change of sheath weave at the midpoint, for easy identification.  But TRIODESS ropes go one step further. When the lead climber reaches the last 5–7 meters before the end of the rope it is high time to find somewhere to stand.  Similarly, when rappelling, it is vital to find or make a place to stand before reaching the end of the rope.  The newly developed TRIODESS design helps address such concerns because the danger zone of the last 7 meters of each end of the rope is clearly marked by a change of sheath weave pattern, similar to the midpoint of the rope.
